Canada’s 2026 immigration mood makes scores important

A language score can help your CRS ranking, but it does not work alone. Your program, work history, education, and other documents still matter. IRCC says it can contact issuing authorities to confirm that documents are genuine. It also lists language results among documents that can be false or altered. This concerns false documents and misrepresentation, not an honest student with a careful application. A random website, edited PDF, or score typed from memory creates a terrible problem. Express Entry accepts two English tests with two exact names

For English under Express Entry, IRCC accepts IELTS General Training and PTE Core. IELTS Academic is not the IELTS option for Express Entry, and PTE Academic is not a replacement for PTE Core. This is the first check before you compare study videos or test fees. Both tests assess four abilities, yet the task types and score scales are different. Your Express Entry program decides the minimum before your study schedule

The Federal Skilled Worker Program needs at least CLB 7 in all four abilities for the first official language. The Canadian Experience Class needs CLB 7 for NOC TEER 0 or 1 jobs, and CLB 5 for TEER 2 or 3 jobs. The Federal Skilled Trades Program needs CLB 5 in Speaking and Listening, plus CLB 4 in Reading and Writing. These are minimum eligibility levels, not a promise of an invitation.
